Battery Calculation Procedure
To determine the required battery size for an MXL-IQ, follow these steps (Page 127) [1]:
- Total Standby Current: Sum the 24 VDC standby current for all modules in the system.
- Determine Standby Hours: Multiply the total system current by the required hours based on the system type:**
- 24 Hours: NFPA 72 Local, Proprietary, and UL 1076.
- 60 Hours: NFPA 72 Municipal Tie and Remote Station.
- 90 Hours: FM Approved Deluge/PreAction.
- Apply Reserve Factor: Multiply the calculated AH total by 1.3 to obtain the final required battery amp hour capacity.
- Select Battery: Choose a battery model that meets or exceeds the final calculated rating, ensuring it does not exceed the 55 AH charging limit (Page 127, 130) [1].
