What This Code Means

A system trouble indicating that an earth ground fault has been detected. This condition may eliminate some of the system's protection.

Common Causes

1Electrical ground connections of the power utility, telephone lines and internal metallic water pipe system are not connected together
2Electrical surges, typically lighting transients
3Equipment malfunctions or unauthorized repairs or alterations

Resolution Steps

Determine if the zone(s) displayed are intact and make them so if they are not. If the problem has been corrected, key an OFF sequence (Code plus OFF) to clear the “CHECK” or “TRBL” display. If the display persists, CALL FOR SERVICE IMMEDIATELY. Users should not attempt to make such connections themselves but should contact appropriate electric inspection authority, or electrician, as appropriate.
