What This Code Means

The control panel has detected that a supervised circuit, such as a zone or NAC, is in contact with earth ground.

Common Causes

  • 1Field wiring of a zone or NAC in contact with earth ground
  • 2Use of conduit for the Earth Ground connection instead of a dedicated wire
  • 3Lightning induced transients
  • 4Improper Earth Ground wire gauge (less than 14 AWG)

Resolution Steps

To get into the Troubleshoot Mode, press MODE 8768 and [ENTER/STORE]. Pressing 1 through 5 followed by [ENTER/STORE] displays the zone voltage of the selected zone. Pressing b1 followed by [ENTER/STORE] displays the voltage on NAC #1. Pressing b2 followed by [ENTER/STORE] displays the voltage on NAC #2. Verify that a separate Earth Ground connection (minimum 14 AWG) is made to the grounding stud and not via conduit. Inspect field wiring for contact with ground.
