Simplex 4010ES·0 views·0 field notes

What This Code Means

An electrical circuit is shorted to ground, which can impair system communication or power.

Common Causes

  • 1Electrical circuit shorted to earth ground
  • 2Fiber optic transmitter/receiver module touching the supporting bracket
  • 3Missing 10 K resistor (R62) on fiber optic network card (565-818)
  • 4Remote PC's 3-prong plug grounding the service port cable
  • 5Field wiring defects or failed isolation circuits

Resolution Steps

Run the Earth Fault search diagnostic from the front panel. If the results do not isolate the source, disable each NAC one at a time, disconnect the AUX power, and disconnect the N2 communications from the panel, checking each time to see if the fault clears. For fiber optic modules, use a strip of insulating material to isolate the bracket from the module.
